‘The Frick Collection: Art Treasures from New York’ at the Mauritshuis

With 36 works on loan from the Frick Collection in New York, this exhibition is a first. Never before has such a large group from this museum’s collection been lent elsewhere…All of the works were acquired by The Frick Collection after 1919, and the selection includes work by masters such as Cimabue, Van Eyck, Memling, Reynolds and Gainsborough, artists which are not, or barely, represented in Dutch public collections.

Documentary: Girl with a Pearl Earring And other Treasures from the Mauritshuis

Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer is one of the most enduring paintings in the history of art…Yet the painting itself is surrounded in mystery. This beautifully filmed new documentary seeks to investigate the many unanswered questions associated with this extraordinary piece. Who was this girl? Why and how was it painted? Why is it so revered?
