Artsy co-founder Sebastian Cwilich to step down | Sebastian Cwilich, a co-founder of Artsy as well as its president and chief operating officer, is stepping down in July after nine years to become a senior adviser. His innovations in the online marketplace include offering galleries subscription options rather than commission, investing in a live platform for auction bidding and partnering with art fairs. Cwilich will remain the company’s second largest shareholder.
MOCA Los Angeles to close Pacific Design Center | The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, is closing its Pacific Design Center, a satellite building in West Hollywood that was opened in 2001. A statement from MOCA and the exhibition space explained that the ‘programming agreement between the two organizations has reached the end of its term’. The centre will remain open until 24 February, when its current exhibition of Kahlil Joseph’s work ends.
Warhol Foundation announces latest grants | The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has announced the 42 winners of its grants from autumn 2018, which range from $44,000 to $120,000. The recipients selected are non-profit arts organisations and the grants, which total $3.65m, are given for programming, publications and exhibitions.
