Describing himself as a ‘curator, writer, explorer, publisher, technologist and luddite’, Ben Vickers has many strings to his bow. As chief technology officer at the Serpentine Galleries, Vickers examines technology and alternative forms of social interaction; co-curator of this year’s Serpentine Marathon on the topic of the future of work, he is also co-curating a major new project by Hito Steyerl that explores ideas around artificial intelligence and human testimony. In 2014 he co-founded the tech project unMonastery in Matera, a civically minded social space based on contemporary monastic principles, and this year he co-founded a new publishing house called Ignota Books. He is a founding member of a decentralised blockchain group called Guild.
