Bruce Museum in Connecticut awarded $15m toward expansion | The Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut has received a donation of $15m from William L. Richter to its capital expansion project, which will go towards the building of a new wing dedicated to art at the museum. Construction on the 40,000-square-foot expansion, which will more than double the size of the museum, is anticipated to begin in 2020; this is the largest single gift towards the campaign so far.
Medieval Scottish town receives £1.2m regeneration fund | Inverkeithing in Fife has been granted more than £1.2m by the National Heritage Lottery Fund towards the regeneration of its medieval town centre. Historic buildings will be restored and public spaces improved, while an A-listed Georgian townhouse will be renovated to become a hub for community use.
Collector Agnes Gund signs letter supporting wealth tax | The American art collector Agnes Gund is among a group of multimillionaires to have signed a letter supporting the adoption of a wealth tax in the United States. The letter, published in the New York Times ahead of the Democratic Party’s primary debates this week, asks all candidates for the US Presidential election in 2020 to support the policy for a tax on major private assets.
