While some museums are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are currently open as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.
For his latest project, Olafur Eliasson has flooded the Fondation Beyeler in Switzerland with pond water, removing its glass exterior to leave the museum open to the elements – as well as to visitors and passing wildlife – both day and night. The pond is coloured with a fluorescent dye, lighting up the water lilies that float through. Eliasson has said that the installation is part of his long-standing effort to ‘consider life not from a human-centric perspective’.
