While some museums are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are currently open as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.
For this new collaboration with the Wallace Collection, the London-based orchestra Orpheus Sinfonia has filmed five performances within the ornate setting of Hertford House, putting music in dialogue with the artworks and objects at the museum. The programme, which takes place across five Sundays and will be streamed online, begins at 6pm on 21 March by pairing Vivaldi and Canaletto – two famous Venetians of the 18th century – and continues the following week with an exploration of the rococo style, comparing sumptuous Meissen vases and works by Fragonard with a soundtrack of Rameau, Couperin and Gluck. Browse the programme and buy tickets (£5 per performance or £20 for the series) via the Wallace Collection’s website.
