Founder, the Artling, Singapore
The Artling, founded by Talenia Phua Gajardo in 2013, is a Singapore-based art consultancy with global reach – it now boasts office in Shanghai and Zurich and represents artists from 26 countries, ranging from blue-chip names to emerging talents. The idea for the company came to Gajardo while she was running an interior and design studio; she found that there were no online platforms to discover contemporary art in the region and set up The Artling to fill the gap in the market. TheArtling.com now lists more than 4,000 designers, artists and galleries from all over the world, with new artworks and design items added to the site daily, and publishes a range of editorial continent including interview profiles with many of the region’s leading artists, curators and gallerists. The company also provides consultancy services and has helped to acquire and commission artworks for corporate and private collections across Europe, the US and Asia, often working with interior designers, architects and property developers to develop site-specific commissions. Recent projects include a residency programme for local artists at Straits Clan private members club in Bukit Pasoh.
