Xavier F. Salomon is a leading art historian who has made his name through a series of outstanding scholarly exhibitions. An expert on Paolo Veronese as well as baroque art, he curated the major monographic exhibition on the artist at the National Gallery, London, in 2014. Since that year, he has been chief curator at the Frick Collection, where he recently curated ‘Cagnacci’s Repentant Magdalene’. He was previously a curator in the department of European paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and before that was chief curator at Dulwich Picture Gallery, where he organised important exhibitions on Van Dyck, Guido Reni and others.
