Aaron Seeto

Director, Museum MACAN, Nusantara

In 2017, Aaron Seeto became the director of Indonesia’s Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MACAN) in Nusantara. Under his stewardship, the institution has grown its expansive collection of art from Indonesia and across the world and realised an impressive programme of exhibitions and educational events – Seeto has long been an advocate for the importance of art and museums in community outreach and intercultural dialogue. He was formerly the curatorial manager of Asian and Pacific Art at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in Brisbane, Australia, where he led the curatorial team responsible for the 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT8). He was also the director of the 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art in Sydney, where he helped to develop the organisation’s reputation as a leading institution for contemporary Asian and Australian art.
