Alia Fattouh

Director, Athr Gallery, Jeddah

In October 2018, Alia Fattouh became director of Athr Gallery, which, now in its 10th year, is firmly established as a key player in the contemporary art scene in Saudi Arabia – and which, with Fattouh on board, looks set to expand its international activity and its local focus on large-scale public projects. Fattah was previously director at Lombard Freid, New York, where she introduced artists such as Huguette Caland and Kemang Wa Lehulere and, before moving to the US in 2011, was Education Manager at Canvas in Dubai, a publication dedicated to art from the Arab world. She is co-founder, with her sister Mayssa Fattouh, of TandemWorks in Beirut, a non-profit arts initiative that works for change on social, cultural and environmental issues through public art interventions.
