Sometimes dealers are good enough to build their reputations through what they contribute to the culture as well as what they add to the bottom line. At Luxembourg & Dayan, partner Alma Luxembourg has overseen important shows of Michelangelo Pistoletto and most recently, Lucian Freud. She joined the gallery in 2011 as it opened on Saville Row, and runs that branch of the gallery – the other is in New York. She had previously worked at Christie’s, before moving to Sotheby’s as European director of private sales for contemporary art.
