This exhibition at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester looks at the career of the modern British artist Ben Nicholson through the lens of his interest in still life (26 June–24 October). Nicholson’s work, ranging from early figurative paintings to the abstract carved reliefs for which he is best known, will be displayed alongside a selection of objects from his studio – including a number of the ceramic and glass vessels depicted in his still lifes. The show also explores the wider environmental factors that influenced Nicholson: his friendships and romantic relationships with other artists, as well as his connection with the places where he lived, from Switzerland to St Ives.
