Director, Inside-Out Art Museum, Beijing
As director of the Inside-Out Art Museum in Beijing, Carol Yinghua Lu is at the helm of one of the city’s most experimental private arts institutions, with a programme of residencies and exhibitions that encourages exchange between Chinese and Western artists. Previously, Lu held positions as artistic director and senior curator of OCAT, Shenzhen (2012–15) and as China researcher at the Asia Art Archive (2005–07). She has contributed to numerous monographs, catalogues and journals; from 2008–18 Lu was a contributing editor for Frieze magazine. In collaboration with Liu Ding, Lu is working on a long-term research project looking at the legacy of socialist realism in China. The pair have also been chosen as the artistic directors for the Yokohama Triennale in 2023.
