While many museums remain shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are now reopening as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.
While the Victoria and Albert Museum in London was shuttering its doors in March, just before the whole country went into lockdown against coronavirus, curator Anna Jackson recorded a video tour of ‘Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk’. The exhibition traces the history of Japan’s national dress, from the patterns sported by Floating World courtesans in the 17th century to its influence on high fashion today. Watch the five short videos on the V&A’s Youtube channel.
