Independent curator, Seoul
Curator Daehyung Lee has been instrumental in building connections between the art world in his native Korea and institutions in the West. As founding art director of Hyundai Motor Company from 2013–19, he forged partnerships with Tate, LACMA and Ars Electronica, among others. Lee curated the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2017, and in 2020 he curated ‘CONNECT, BTS’ – a collaboration with the K-Pop sensation involving 22 contemporary artists and curators from London, Berlin, Buenos Aires, New York and Seoul. His curatorial approach prioritises the social role of art, with recent projects focusing on ecological concerns. Lee serves on the board of directors of Nam June Paik Cultural Foundation and Art Center Nabi.
