Chief curator, Centro de Cultura Digital, Mexico City
Doreen A. Ríos is chief curator of the Centro de Cultura Digital, which opened in Mexico City in 2012, and hosts exhibitions as well as workshops, screenings and other programmes relating to digital art and culture. In 2015 she founded ANTI[MATERIA], an online platform for Latin American new media artists; she has curated both physical and digital shows for this platform. For the Festival HelloWorld, for example, Ríos organised the group exhibition ‘Ligera como una pluma, tiesa como una tabla’, which uses the idea of ritual to explore the connections between human and machine. Whether through teaching, writing or exhibition-making, Ríos – who is also a lecturer at Centro University and Tecnológico de Monterrey – fosters international exchanges between artists and art professionals interested in digital and post-digital practices.
