The Edinburgh Art Festival was cancelled last summer, but this year it returns for its 17th edition, with a month of programming that runs from 29 July until 29 August. Highlights among the 35 commissions and exhibitions held across the city include new works by Isaac Julien, Sean Lynch and Emeka Ogboh and major surveys of Joan Eardley at The Scottish Gallery and Charles H. Mackie at the City Art Centre. At the National Museum of Scotland, ‘The Galloway Hoard’ presents newly conserved Viking-age objects to the public for the first time.
