From sculptures of suitcases with legs to a five-metre-tall headless torso dressed in a lilac suit, the Austrian multimedia artist Erwin Wurm creates humorous and uncanny works that play with our perceptions of everyday objects and spaces. His solo exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park features more than 100 works, including 19 large-scale sculptures installed within the gardens and paintings, photographs, drawings and further sculptures in the indoor galleries (until 28 April 2024). Highlights include Big Step (2021), a monumental sculpture of a bag attached to long, striding metal legs, and Big Mutter (2015), a giant, anthropomorphised hot water bottle. The show also includes the first outing of Wurm’s most recent sculpture, Balzac (2023), which takes inspiration from Rodin’s sculpture of the same name. Find out more on the YSP’s website.
