The Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art owns one of the most significant collections of modern and contemporary jewellery in the country. But it has not had an opportunity to display the group of more than 200 pieces all together until now. Its new dedicated gallery – once a store for the museum’s ceramics and works on paper – opened this month. Below are a few of the weird and wonderful designs on show, from a ‘tufted’ bracelet to a fashion-conscious penguin.
The new jewellery gallery opened at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (mima) on 4 October.
