Greg Bryda brings a business mind to the world of academic art history: he began his PhD at Yale in medieval art after studying management at the Wharton School and working in finance. In 2014 he co-founded the Wölff App, a platform that gives teachers and scholars the wherewithal to crowd-source high-resolution images of artworks for use in classrooms and other academic contexts. It is named after Heinrich Wölfflin, the Swiss art historian who first popularised the use of projectors for studying images of artworks – and it looks set to have as significant an impact.
