I Transmit: 100 Years of Joseph Beuys

To mark the centenary of the German artist’s birth, the Pinakothek der Moderne has arranged something of a Joseph Beuys treasure hunt across Munich (25 June–10 October). Ten objects – each a multiple from a limited edition – have been installed in locations throughout the city, including the Haus der Kulturen und Religionen, the Garching Center for Technology, and the Weiße Rose Saal in the Palace of Justice. In 1970, Beuys himself compared the distribution of multiples to the installation of transmitters, which (per his typically mystical mindset) could communicate his message in the absence of the artist himself.
