Jack Kirkland began his art collection with a work by American conceptual sculptor Tom Friedman. He has since amassed a truly eclectic range of work, borne of a passion for diverse historical periods that is all too rare among lovers of contemporary art. His collection has particular emphases on interwar European photography, American modernism, and Latin American contemporary art, but also includes Hellenistic bronzes, a Carracci portrait and an Egyptian faience baboon. A director of the Bowmer & Kirkland construction group, he is also a trustee of the Bridget Riley Art Foundation, Nottingham Contemporary and the ICA.
