Muscat
In 2017 Russian-born, Omani-Belarusian Jamal Al Moosawi was appointed director-general of the National Museum – Sultanate of Oman in Muscat, Oman’s flagship cultural institution. In his previous role of acting director-general, he had overseen its public opening in 2016 – and was involved with the early stages of the museum’s development as its project director. Intended to establish a lasting cultural legacy, the museum is equipped with a learning centre and conservation facilities. Moosawi’s previous posts include being a curator at the Museum of Modern Arab Art, Doha, in 2007–08, and regional arts project manager for the GCC, Iraq and Yemen at the British Council.
