While museums around the world are shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibition openings will be replaced by a selection of digital initiatives providing virtual access to art and culture.
Jazz at Lincoln Center, the New York-based programme headed up by trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis, has created an online portal offering free access to all its digital activities. These include twice-weekly talks held by Marsalis, and an array of full-length concerts pulled up ‘From the Vault’ and released on YouTube. The current selection includes concerts dedicated to the jazz legends Miles Davis and Chick Corea, with more being added each week. Also now available to stream is the company’s first-ever virtual gala concert, the Worldwide Concert for our Culture, which premiered on 15 April and brought together artists from North and South America, Europe, Asia and Africa, all performing remotely alongside the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Find out more on the Jazz at Lincoln Center website.
