Co-founding director, Collecteurs, New York
Together with her husband Evrim Oralkan (b. 1976), Jessica Oralkan co-founded Collecteurs in 2014. Billed as the world’s first collective digital museum, Collecteurs was developed at New Inc, the New Museum’s cultural incubator; the platform facilitates the digitisation and display of art collections that generally remain out of sight, in storage spaces and private homes. The Oralkans have partnered with curators to create digital exhibitions; recent shows include ‘1-31’, which unfolded over three months in 2020 as 31 artists, among them Pierre Huyghe and Wolfgang Tillmans, uploaded one work each to the platform. This year, they launched Collecteurs Academy, an online learning platform that offers classes and one-on-one mentorship aimed at demystifying the world of art and collecting.
