Collector and entrepreneur, London
Along with her parents, Dominique and Sylvain, Karen Levy is a co-owner of the private DSLcollection, founded in 2005 and featuring works by major contemporary Chinese artists. Her work with the collection has helped adapt it to the digital world, including by creating a virtual reality museum that displays 30 artworks from the collection – a pioneering project that took place in collaboration with HTC Vive Arts. Expanding on this interest in integrating new tech into how we experience art, in 2019 Levy co-founded Aika – Strategy & Art Connection with Aimie Ferry-Sauvaire. The company produces VR art projects including pop-up exhibitions and online digital art content, with a focus on Asia; this year it has produced a virtual viewing room for the Pingshan Museum in China, in collaboration with the DSLcollection. Levy was previously a specialist with a focus on Asian art at Phillips auction house and worked for Sotheby’s Private Client Group.
