Co-founder, ROH Projects, Jakarta
Since its establishment in 2012, Indonesian art gallery ROH Projects has become a linchpin of the local arts community in Jakarta, boosting the visibility of emerging artists from Indonesia and the greater Asia Pacific region. Artist and gallerist Laksamana ‘Junior’ Tirtadji, who co-founded the space, has said that the gallery initially came about as a response to the need for a local ‘platform that was more professional, more structured, and on a more international standard.’ The gallery works with institutions and organisations across Indonesia and beyond to stage exhibitions and events; among its recent collaborations has been a month-long exhibition of artists Bagus Pandega and Flo Brooks, staged at Project Native Informant in London. In 2018, an artist from the ROH stable, Syagini Ratna Wulan, represented Indonesia at the Venice Biennale. The gallery has also taken part in ART021 and West Bund Art & Design fairs in Shanghai, S.E.A. Focus in Singapore and Art Basel Miami Beach and Hong Kong, and the inaugural Frieze Seoul this September.
