One of five artists chosen for Tate Britain’s ‘Painting Now’ show in 2013–14, Lucy McKenzie’s profile is rising fast. Schooled in traditional art techniques at Van der Kelen – Logelain in Brussels, McKenzie deliberately moves between fine art and other fields, combining painting with craft, fashion, architecture and design. This interdisciplinary practice – which frequently sees her collaborate with other artists – and emphasis on artisan techniques has garnered international attention, with shows at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Museum Ludwig, Cologne and MoMA, New York.
