While some museums are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are currently open as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.
Lynette Yiadom-Boakye’s enigmatic paintings depict subjects from her imagination, rendered with short brushstrokes in a jewel-hued palette and frequently depicted in shadowy, indistinct surroundings that imbue them with dramatic mystique. Featuring some 80 works from her student days onwards, this first major survey explores the development of the London-born artist’s style and includes major recent works such as No Need of Speech (2018). The exhibition at Tate Britain, London, runs from 2 December–9 May 2021. Find out more from the Tate’s website.
