Khaled’s work across photography, video, sculpture, sound and text examines the construction of male identity, and the boundaries between reality and disguise. His work also considers art’s role in political activism, and past projects have looked at body builders, professional male belly dancers, online HIV-positive communities and gay clubbing culture. He has exhibited widely, participating in the Istanbul and Sharjah biennials, Frieze London and Art Dubai, and in shows at the Witte de With Center, the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and the Whitechapel Gallery in London. In 2016 he was shortlisted for the Abraaj Group Art Prize.
