Masterpieces from the Scottish National Gallery, Frick Collection

In November, The Frick Collection in New York will present a touring exhibition of 10 masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland. The works – including a Botticelli never before on public view in the United States and John Singer Sargent’s celebrated Lady Agnew of Lochnaw – will travel on in 2015 with 45 additional works to the de Young, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco and the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas.

‘This type of exhibition of masterpieces from a European collection is a tradition that we have. They raise the profile of that particular institution as well as complementing works from our own collection’, remarked curator Susan Galassi. The Frick Collection has an ongoing relationship with the National Galleries of Scotland, having previously staged an exhibition of drawings from the collections in 2001. Many of the artists featured in the upcoming exhibition are also represented in the Frick’s own collection.
