An architect, researcher and curator, Mohamed Elshahed lectures in architectural history at the American University in Cairo, having completed his PhD on 1950s Cairo at New York University’s Middle Eastern Studies department. In 2017 he curated the British Museum’s Modern Egypt Project, and the following year was curator of ‘Modernist Indignation’, Egypt’s winning pavilion at the London Design Biennale.
