Osei Bonsu

Osei Bonsu got his first job in the arts as a tour guide at the National Museum Cardiff, where he was particularly drawn to works of European Impressionism. It wasn’t until he moved to London, where he studied first at Central Saint Martins and then at UCL, that the British-Ghanaian curator, critic and art historian began to specialise in the art of Africa and its diaspora. In 2019 Bonsu was appointed curator of international art at Tate Modern.

Before joining Tate, Bonsu was founding director of Crane Projects, an Accra-based publishing platform for young and emerging artists, as well as a contributing editor at Frieze magazine. In 2017, he curated the 10th edition of the Satellites programme (co-commissioned by the Jeu de Paume and CAPC Bordeaux), a series of four video-based solo artist exhibitions.
