The San Francisco-based artist Tauba Auerbach is concerned with locating the moments when the logic of rational systems such as geometry and physics breaks down, and exploring how such moments can be represented and perceived. Their work spans new and craft technologies, as well as painting, drawing and sculpture; this display at SFMOMA (18 December–1 May 2022) is the artist’s first museum survey, and includes 17 works alongside prototypes, reference materials and editions of publications produced by their imprint Diagonal Press. Highlights include Auerglass Organ, a performance piece created in collaboration with the musician Cameron Mesirow (known professionally as Glasser), which will be staged throughout the run of the exhibition.
