The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebaek, is hosting the largest institutional survey in Europe to date of works by the American conceptual artist Alex da Corte, known for his wry references to popular culture (14 July–8 January 2023). Film installations in the exhibition allude to everyone from the Muppets to Eminem, demonstrating the enduring influence of Pop art on Da Corte. They include a recent acquisition by the Louisiana, Rubber Pencil Devil (2019) – a feature-length work comprising 57 short films, charactered with avant-garde writers and artists, food puppets and cartoon characters, that has been described by the artist as a gesamtkunstwerk.
