Storm King Art Center will present Measures, three new works by Josephine Halvorson as its annual ‘Outlooks’ series, which invites one emerging or mid-career contemporary artist to create a new, site-specific work to be installed for a single season. For her first-ever outdoor sculpture project, Halvorson will create three large-scale, painted, wooden rulers — or ‘measures’, as the artist has titled the project. The works will respond to three distinct sites in Storm King’s 500-acre landscape, and are inspired by the natural and artistic landmarks that surround them.
