Francesco Clemente

20 July 2022

The Albertina Museum in Vienna marks its acquisition of the Jablonka Collection in 2019 – the collection of German and American artworks belonging to the art dealer Rafael Jablonka – with an exhibition (27 July–23 October) dedicated to the Italian-American painter Francesco Clemente. Supplemented by key works from the museum’s collection, the exhibition concentrates on the artist’s self-portraiture, with works including the characterful Self-portrait in White, Red and Black I (2008) and The Fool (Self-Portrait) (2008–11). The exhibition also considers Clemente’s life and travels, charting the artist’s time spent in Italy, India and the United States, where he now lives, and the impressions he formed. Find out more on the Albertina’s website.
