Paris to Hollywood: The Fashion and Influence of Véronique and Gregory Peck

19 March 2021

While some museums are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are currently open as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.

The Parisian writer and philanthropist Véronique Peck moved to Los Angeles with her husband, the actor Gregory Peck, in the mid 1950s. With photographs and other archival materials, this exhibition at Denver Art Museum (14 March–18 July) peers into the private lives of one of Hollywood’s most famous couples – but with around 100 outfits from Véronique’s wardrobe, the emphasis is primarily on her role as a fashion ‘influencer’, who fostered close relationships with some of the leading designers of her time. Highlights include a mini dress and pantsuits by the French designer André Courrèges, whose work Véronique is credited with introducing to the American world of fashion in the 1960s.
