While some museums remain shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Apollo’s usual weekly pick of exhibitions will include shows at institutions that are now reopening as well as digital projects providing virtual access to art and culture.
For its 31st edition, this annual festival of opera, classical music and other performing arts is providing free live streams of some 40 concerts, hosted in the Rocca Brancaleone of Ravenna and in the neighbouring towns of Cervia and Lugo. Each will remain available for the duration of the festival (21 June–31 July), from the opening concert, conducted by Riccardo Muti, to the Italian Jazz Orchestra’s lively tribute to Federico Fellini. Upcoming highlights of live events include the Arcangelo Corelli Orchestra’s performance of the score for Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights (1931), and a performance of Ernst Reijseger’s Requiem for a Dying Planet, set to scenes from the films of Werner Herzog.
