Tacita Dean

2 June 2022

An exhibition at the Getty Center in Los Angeles (7 June–28 August) presents two recent works by British artist Tacita Dean that were inspired by the museum’s sites and collections. The artwork Monet Hates Me draws on the artist’s experience of using historical archives during her time as the artist-in-residence at the Getty Research Institute from 2014 to 2015. Organised as a portfolio, the piece comprises 50 mixed media objects that were discovered during Dean’s explorations, including the artist’s recreation of the key to Auguste Rodin’s studio. The second artwork, titled Pan Amicus (2021), is a 16mm film which depicts the landscapes surrounding the Getty Center and Getty Villa Museum reimagined as part of Arcadia, the home of the Greek god of nature. Find out more on the Getty Center’s website.
